Who you are

  • A student at Columbia University (Barnard College, Columbia College, General Studies, SEAS).

  • Passionate about equity, public education, art, or social justice.

  • Comfortable with public speaking or willing to become comfortable.

  • Able to follow through with teachers and students counting on your commitment.

  • Have experience or are comfortable working with children.

What you’ll do

  • Learn our class-specific curriculums and be trained to give tours at the Met.

  • Participate in trainings on equity and inclusion.

  • Have the opportunity to join our Curriculum committee and write your own tours.

  • Give approximately 1 tour per semester (1 hour long tour, 2.5 hour commitment) with funding for transportation to and from the museum.

  • Have the opportunity to take on a leadership role on our Guide Development team by helping to train new guides.

  • Brainstorm new ways to engage New York City students with the arts and increase equity in arts education.
